We had an interesting trip yesterday afternoon… had to drive to Columbia to meet up with Carl, Carrie, and the boys – ‘cuz Columbia is the half-way point between Charlotte and Augusta – to drop AJ off with them for their next run. We met up at the truck stop and had dinner together… Here we are in the banquet room (I guess) of the restaurant… it’s got one big conference-size table and doors for privacy… AJ, me, Carl, Dalton and Drew are at one end… Carrie and Brandon are more towards the other end… and alla us WoW’ers start off on the game… LOL!!
It was just so funny to hear Drew go on and on about his character and what he’d done lately, what level and all… meeting new friends… and then us digressing to warn him about sharing personal information… and how much fun Drew has with the game! It's amazing the staying power of this one computer game...
Dalton is making new friends too… he was going on about how he was dueling some other players and a very low level player got involved. Typical boy, he was going on about “smacking down” this level 5 character when a very high level character showed up and started “smacking him down” ! LOL! Then he starts talking with them, and turns out it was the same player with both characters and true to form they start a friendship!! How kewl is that? But what was really amazing to Dalton is that the kid he was talking with lives in… Las Vegas! LOL! He just couldn’t get over that, starting a friendship with someone that far away…
Ahh the power of the internet… remember those days? When we sent our first email… made our first friendships thousands of miles away… instant messaging all hours of the days and nights… What an amazing age we live in!
Do you suppose that the folks who lived during the start of the industrial revolution felt the same way?
